(Kitco News) – Rio Tinto chairman Simon Thompson has announced his intention to step down from his role due to the destruction of the Juukan Gorge rock shelters in Western Australia. Last year, Rio destroyed two 46,000-year-old caves in the Pilbara region against the wishes of the traditional owners.
